RSVP & Attendance

Overbooking

Overbooking is the strategy of accepting more RSVPs than available capacity, anticipating that some confirmed guests will not show up. Airlines and hotels use this extensively. For events, organizers use historical no-show rate data to calculate safe overbooking levels — for example, accepting 120 RSVPs for a 100-person venue if the typical no-show rate is 25%.
